Curcumin is obtained by solvent extraction of the ground rhizomes of the Curcuma longa L. plant (turmeric plant). This natural colourant is renowned for its bright yellow hue making it perfect for adding a warm, vibrant colour to a wide range of products. Non-acid stable colour preparations will vary from yellow at pH below 7 to orange red at pH 7 – 9.
